There is now discussion on the Hill and in the White House about a health care vote this Friday. Yes, but: Both the White House and GOP House leadership are cautious about setting artificial deadlines. A Friday health care vote isn't "outside the realm," Republican Study Committee Chairman Mark Walker told Axios, adding that people are discussing a Friday vote and things are "even trending that direction." "Most of them like what they see, so we're considering to grow the vote, and when we're ready, we'll move," said House Majority Whip Steve Scalise. The House whip team is busy counting moderate votes and gauging support within the caucus, and there should be a clearer picture of where things stand tonight.

House, White House considering Friday health care vote
Despite the latest flurry of activity on the Hill Wednesday night , Trump's campaign promise to gut his predecessor's landmark health care law looks certain to remain unfulfilled anytime soon. For now, Trump's allies are downplaying the significance of his failure so far to repeal Obamacare. But rather than notching an early win, Trump instead suffered an embarrassing defeat when the Republican health care bill was yanked from the House floor last month. The health care debacle has also left a mark on the White House's relationship with the House speaker and his aides. The most recent attempt to revive the health care bill by winning over Freedom Caucus members came largely at the insistence of the White House.
