MERIDEN — Normal service resumed at MidState Medical Center Friday night after the infirmary was locked down for about 3 hours after a white powdery substance on a patient started making staff sick. 3 nurses & the patient, who came into the emergency room for curing, were quarantined & treated for minor hurts , according to Meriden Police Sgt. It isn't clear the reason he entered the emergency room. Officials tested the substance & assessed infirmary staff & patients who were nearby while the substance was found, Lowell says. Police closed driveways leading to the emergency room for about 3 hours.
