Maryland Senate advances ban on conversion medication for LGBT guys
After a lengthy debate across a partisan divide, the Maryland Senate features a bill on Tuesday which would make it illegal for licensed mental health professionals to offer medication to minors which is intended to change one's sexistorientation or gender identity. Sen. Bryan W. Simonaire, an Anne Arundel province Republican, said the legislation is flawed because "if you really believe this is child abuse, you'd tell child abuse ought never occur.""This bill tells it's OK unless you're a licensed professional," he said. Sen. Richard S. Madaleno Jr., the bill's sponsor & the premier openly gay member of the Maryland Senate, said lawmakers & those groups agreed which, given worries which members of President Donald J. As it stated in "I don't think (conversion medication) is abuse in every status," Simonaire said. Because the bill bars licensed professionals, families can seek the help of less qualified, unlicensed professionals, he said. Licensed medicinal professionals wouldn't be allowed to do that, he said.
