LOUIS — A federal judge here ruled Friday which the Missouri prison system have to provide hormone medication for a transgender inmate serving a murder sentence. The ruling came in a grievance challenging the system's policy barring the curing for inmates who weren't receiving hormone medication before they were incarcerated. "This decision is such a welcome decrease," said Demoya Gordon, an attorney for Hicklin & Transgender Rights Project attorney for Lambda Legal. which curing includes hormone medication, permanent body hair removal & access to "gender-affirming" hygienic products & other products from the prison commissary store. The federal policy was enacted after the Bureau of Prisons settled a grievance brought with a transgender inmate in Missouri.
