Inslee statement on GOP efforts to sabotage and destabilize health insurance markets quoting : wa

"The chaos and uncertainty caused by President Trump and the Republicans in Congress with their efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act are sabotaging health insurance markets across the country. It's no wonder consumers and health insurers alike are nervous. "In the meantime, I remind Washington's congressional delegation that I stand ready and willing to work on ways to improve the ACA but will continue to vigorously oppose any effort to take away Washingtonians' health care." "We will not allow the chaos of D.C. to hurt the ability of Washingtonians to access health care, and I appreciate the efforts of Insurance Commissioner Kreidler who is working on options to resolve this issue. "The worst part of what Trump and the Republicans are doing is that they want to take away health care so they can hand out tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

Inslee statement on GOP efforts to sabotage and destabilize health insurance markets
Given the uncertainty Trump has created with his sabotage, it's not likely other insurers will step up to fill the voids left by bailing insurers. Anthem is the only health insurance provider on the marketplace in 20 counties in Ohio. For example Colorado, where it is the only Obamacare insurer in 14 of the state's counties. There are about 13,000 people signed up in the Ohio counties Anthem is leaving, according to Kaiser Family Foundation's Cynthia Cox, accounting for about 6 percent of all enrollees in the state. But if the insurance companies are blaming Trump for this, their customers will, too.

Reader's View: Republican proposal would destroy health insurance

The Republican budget proposal fails President Donald Trump's campaign promise to protect "health care for everyone." Our president and Congress should set the goal of developing an adequate health care payment system for everyone. The goal of the Republican health care payment plan seems to include excluding 20 million lower-income families from insurance coverage so large tax breaks can be given to the wealthy. Its goal was to insure the American people for health care. Instead of continuing this goal and repairing Obamacare, Republicans seem to have chosen to destroy it.
