UPI : reported that Gallup: Uninsured health insurance rate increases slightly

The uninsured rate had reached 18 percent in the third quarter of 2013, right before the health insurance exchanges began in October 2013. Those without health insurance dropped from 20.8 percent to 13.6 percent since 2013. April 10 (UPI) -- The percentage of U.S. adults who don't have health insurance rose slightly in the first quarter of 2017, according to a Gallup and Healthways polling. In 2014, the Affordable Care Act that mandated insurance coverage went into force. An ACA provision allows young adults to remain on their parents' health insurance until age 26.

Trump, start fixing health insurance markets without Congress

Trump, start fixing health insurance markets without Congress
This approach would remedy the core ill of the insurance market without new spending, new legislation, or unprecedented executive action. A remnant of this survives in the short-term insurance market, which was exempt from the ACA's regulatory reforms. They could then operate as a well-functioning insurance market for the vast majority of individuals uncovered by employers or public entitlements. The ACA sought to make health insurance affordable for those with pre-existing conditions by requiring insurers to make plans available on the same terms to the sick and the healthy. Most Americans do not want subsidies, they just want reasonably-priced insurance plans.

Why is New York killing health insurance for my employees?

The share of US companies that do not provide health insurance spiked this year, to nearly 55 percent. Since self-insured companies only pay for the health care their employees consume, they benefit from helping their employees stay healthy. Pharos employees also have an additional incentive to keep their health costs in check. Mid-sized firms will soon have to choose what kind of health benefits they'll offer after 2018. Thanks to a 2012 state law, many mid-sized firms — those with between 51 and 100 insured employees — may have to drop their health plans, beginning in 2019.
