Memorial, a nonprofit health care system, traditionally provides the largest portion of care for indigent and uninsured patients in Chatham County. "What I'd like to see happen is to put that money into the indigent care trust fund to enhance that fund. J. Curtis Lewis III, who chairs the Memorial Health board, said Thursday that should result in about $200 million in a "perpetual trust" from which all interest can be applied to indigent health care in Chatham County. "That could really revolutionize health care in Chatham County, in my opinion," he said. Indigent health care in Chatham County would benefit from about a $200 million trust fund as part of a pending agreement with national health care giant Hospital Corporation of America to purchase Memorial University Medical Center under a proposal approved Wednesday night.
White House pushes uncertain bid to revive health care bill
A senior White House official acknowledged that it was unclear how many votes Republicans had, but said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has told the White House that a vote could come together quickly. During a White House news conference, Trump said progress was being made on a "great plan" for overhauling the nation's health care system. (Source: CNN)By ALAN FRAM and JULIE PACEAssociated PressWASHINGTON (AP) - Eager for a victory, the White House expressed confidence Thursday that a breakthrough on the mired Republican health care bill could be achieved in the House next week. The bill would repeal President Barack Obama's health care law and replace it with less generous subsidies and eased insurance requirements. That was a major embarrassment to Ryan and Trump, and House leaders are loath to bring a revised health care bill to the House floor unless they are convinced it would pass.collected by :Lucy William
