A school bus driver died in West Windsor yesterday after he drove off the road and struck a tree on Zaitz Farm Road, off of Old Trenton Road.Frank LaTorre said a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, a 73-year-old male from Monroe, is believed to have suffered a medical issue that caused him to lose control of the bus at about 3:11 p.m.The bus, which was carrying seven students from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South, hit a tree branch and then struck another tree before coming to rest partially off the roadway.

The driver of an occupied school bus died Wednesday after suffering an apparent medical condition and crashing in New Jersey.The accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Zaitz Farm Road in West Windsor.Authorities say the driver, whose name has not been released, had a medical issue that caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.It struck a tree branch and then another tree before coming to a stop partially off of the roadway.There were seven West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South students on board the bus at the time."A girl and a boy who were also on the bus tried to ensure that he was back on the seat," student Sanjana Marepally said.

ThinkstockWEST WINDSOR — A school bus accident in Mercer County is believed to have been caused when the 73-year-old driver suffered what ended up being a fatal medical issue.The bus crashed on Wednesday afternoon while carrying seven students from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South on Zaitz Farm Road.Police say the bus went off the road, hit a tree branch and then hit another tree before coming to a stop.
