MUMBAI Jan 17 Indian online healthcare platform Practo said on Tuesday it had raised $55 million from new and existing investors in a fresh round of funding led by China's Tencent Holdings.Bengaluru-headquartered Practo, founded in 2008, acts as a one-stop shop for patients booking appointments with doctors for online and in-person consultations.New investors in the latest round include Japan's Recruit Holdings Co -owned RSI Fund and Thrive Capital, Practo's founder and chief executive Shashank ND told Reuters.

India-based Practo, a startup that helps consumers locate doctors and healthcare information, has closed a $55 million Series D funding round that will fuel an expansion into more emerging markets worldwide.The investment is led by Tencent, the Chinese internet giant that led Practo's $90 million Series C in 2015, with participation from three new backers: Russia's Ru-Net, RSI Fund (from Japan-based Recruit) and New York's Thrive Capital.Existing investors Sequoia, Matrix, Capital G (formerly Google Capital), Altimeter Capital and Sofina also put in.

Bangalore, India-based startup Practo, which offers an app and web-based platform for people to access healthcare information and locate doctors, has raised $55 million in Series D funding in a round led by returning investor Tencent.Thrive Capital, Ru-Net, RSI Fund, Sequoia, Matrix, Capital G, Altimeter Capital and Sofina also contributed.This brings Practo's total funding to date at about $180 million.
