Rajasthan's Rs 370 crore health insurance scheme comes with many ridersJAIPUR: Government officials and those working with the Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (JSA) met on Friday at the State Institute for Health and Family Welfare to understand how best to expand use of the Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojna (BSBY).BL Kothari, CEO, state health assurance agency and MP Jain, who serves as state nodal officer for BSBY, interacted with people from across the state working to bring poor people under the protective umbrella of this scheme. The scheme is aimed at allowing even poor patients access to treatment at private hospitals. It makes for, under ideal circumstances, cashless treatment for the poor as the hospital would be paid by the insurer. There is a cap of Rs30,000 per year for treatment of minor illnesses per family - the family is the unit under Bhamashah. For major illnesses, the scheme covers expenses up to Rs3 lakh per year, twice that offered under such a scheme in Tamil Nadu.To avail of the scheme, Kothari explained that it was not enough to have a Bhamashah card that anyone can apply for.
