UPDATE: 7/18/16 - 8:15 p.m.State Police say the suspicious package found at the medical examiner's office was found on Officer Tyne's body after he was taken there.The office was evacuated after it was found Thursday.Police say the wad of duct tape was found on his ballistic vest and they say he had asked for a new vest before killing himself at the Roanoke Police Department Wednesday morning.

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) – A Virginia State Police bomb unit determined that the suspicious item attached to a package was a large amount of duct tape.Because the item initially appeared to be suspicious in appearance, the Medical Examiner's office took the appropriate action in notifying police to investigate, as a precaution, according to Amy Whittaker with Roanoke County.The scene was clear by about 11:45 a.m.At 9:40 a.m., a call was received to the 911 Center that a suspicious item was found in the Medical Examiner's Office.
