An Orlando legal group is arguing that the Palm Beach County Commission has no authority to ban licensed counselors from offering a type of therapy to children that seeks to change a person's sexual orientation from gay to straight.And even if it did, prohibiting the practice known as conversion therapy would violate the First Amendment, according to a letter sent this week to commissioners by the Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit that bills itself as "restoring the culture by advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and the family.""We've received calls from licensed counselors who were concerned this would intrude on the doctor-patient relationship," said Mat Staver, founder and chairman of the Liberty Counsel.
