This version of freedom is packaged and sold to less affluent Americans because, for many of them, obtaining health care currently requires hard choices. Freedom should be the ability to choose to leave your current job and start a new business, knowing that you can buy
health insurance, and that pre-existing conditions will not affect your ability to obtain or keep that insurance.
Too often,
health insurance is conflated with health care. It is impossible to control health care costs when a third party, not the ultimate consumer, is paying the bill. If we are going to mandate health insurance coverage for all, then perhaps only catastrophic insurance should be mandated, not a one size fits all program crafted by politicians in D.C. Insurance is a means of protection against financial loss due to a catastrophic event, not the means to cover all related health care costs. Let's get back to some basic concepts regarding health care reform.
