German kindergartens to name parents who skip vaccine advice – Normangee Star stat : normangeestar

Italy has recorded almost three times as many measles cases so far this year than for all of 2016. Italian officials have attacked what they call "anti-scientific" theories which have led to vaccination rates falling well below levels deemed safe to prevent outbreaks. The German government wants kindergartens to inform authorities if parents fail to prove they have attended a doctors' consultation on child vaccinations. World Health Organization said that children need to be screened for measles vaccination history once they start school. Vaccination rates have dropped across the country in recent years, making children and adults alike vulnerable to potentially fatal diseases, The Washington Post reports.

Italy is also facing health issues, as it has recorded three times the number of measles cases in 2017 than past year. Authorities already can impose a fine of 2,500 euros ($2,800) on parents who persistently refuse to attend the vaccine consultations, compulsory for children attending kindergarten. So far in 2017, Germany has reported about 410 cases of the measles, which is more than last year's total. Parents found in violation of this upcoming law may be fined up to 2,500 euros, or about $2,800 in US currency. "With steady progress towards elimination over the past 2 years, it is of particular concern that measles cases are climbing in Europe", WHO Regional Director for Europe Dr. Zsuzsanna Jakab said.
