John Boehner: GOP Will Not Repeal and Replace Obamacare
(Lauren Victoria Burke/AP, File)Former House Speaker John Boehner made a surprising prediction on Thursday: Republicans won't "repeal and replace" Obamacare, a signature campaign pledge for years. Former House Speaker John Boehner predicted Thursday that Republicans won't repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., who replaced Boehner as speaker, is championing a plan titled "Obamacare Repeal and Replace." We'll repeal ObamaCare once and for all & eliminate its mandates, taxes & intrusion into businesses & your lives," Vice President Mike Pence tweeted Wednesday. As recently as Wednesday, the administration was vowing to "repeal" and "replace" Obamacare.

Amid Backlash, Conservatives Push GOP on Obamacare

"It's just like how the Tea Party and explosion of activity we had was real." But with policy items GOP lawmakers have been pushing for years—namely, the repeal of Obamacare—hanging in the balance, conservative groups say they know better. But, Phillips said, it's important for Republican lawmakers to remember their campaign commitments to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
