No Applications to Grow, Dispense Arkansas Medical Marijuana quoting : Access Denied

(AP) — Demand for permission to use, grow and sell medical marijuana in Arkansas is low as the state reaches the halfway point for the application period. Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration spokesman Scott Hardin told The Associated Press that the agency had received no applications to grow and distribute medical marijuana as of Wednesday. Despite the lack of submissions for licenses, there has been interest in using medical marijuana though that number is low. There have been 404 applications completed and approved from people seeking to use medical marijuana as of Tuesday, according to Department of Health spokeswoman Katie White. Director of Health Communications Marisha DiCarlo told the AP that the agency had projected around 30,000 people would apply for medical marijuana cards.

WENY News - Proponents Launch Arkansas Medical Marijuana Association

BRYAN SHAWVERARKANSAS -- Proponents of medical marijuana in Arkansas have launched an organization to promote the industry around the state. The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Association was officially launched on Wednesday (Aug. 9), but it had been in the works for awhile, said David Couch, a board member and executive director of the association. He said the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Association will be a leading voice among medical marijuana cultivators, distributors and businesses. Couch said they will work to promote the interests of the medical marijuana industry throughout the state. Currently, the Medical Marijuana Commission is currently accepting applications for people who want to open dispensaries for the drug.
