Health Insurance Industry Outlook quoting : Zacks Investment Research

A simple, equally-weighted average return of all Zacks Rank stocks is calculated to determine the monthly return. This dedication to giving investors a trading advantage led to the creation of our proven Zacks Rank stock-rating system. Only Zacks Rank stocks included in Zacks hypothetical portfolios at the beginning of each month are included in the return calculations. Zacks Rank stock-rating system returns are computed monthly based on the beginning of the month and end of the month Zacks Rank stock prices plus any dividends received during that particular month. Certain Zacks Rank stocks for which no month-end price was available, pricing information was not collected, or for certain other reasons have been excluded from these return calculations.

Health Insurance Industry Outlook
New numbers from the the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services show health insurance in Illinois that cost $248 a month in 2013, now costs $517 dollars. "When you have a small pool of people, you're going to have adverse selections and you're going to have losses that are far worse than Washington projected." Trouble is, State Sen. Dave Syverson, R-Rockford, said, most insurance through the Obamacare exchange costs a lot more than $517. A number of health insurance companies have said they've lost millions of dollars on the plans offered on the exchange. NC Payer Raises Health Insurance Rates Due to CSR Lawsuit

This has led to Blue Cross NC to better predict medical costs for its expanding member base. "With no funding for the federal payments for cost-sharing reduction plans, Blue Cross NC will need to factor the missing federal payments into our 2018 rates. "In our view, with so many North Carolinians struggling to afford health care, the 2018 increase is still too steep. Blue Cross NC acknowledged that if federal funding disappeared, it would be policyholders that pay the difference. If 2018 CSRs were assured, Blue Cross NC actuaries formulated 2018 premium rates that showed an average increase of just 8.8 percent, a difference of 14 percentage points from the 22.9 percent filed.
