Orlando's first medical marijuana dispensary opens Friday quoting : ClickOrlando

ORLANDO, Fla. - Knox medical, Orlando's first licensed medical marijuana dispensary, will open to the public Friday morning. The Florida Department of Health started the process in February of accepting applications for medical marijuana identification cards for residents. Knox Medical is part of Knox Nursery, which has been operating out of Winter Garden for more than 50 years, according to its website. Florida voters approved a state constitutional amendment on Nov. 8 to legalize medical marijuana, broadening access to pot beyond the limited therapeutic uses approved two years ago by the Legislature. More Florida locations are planned in Jacksonville, Lake Worth, Tallahassee and St. Petersburg in 2017 and 2018, according to a spokesperson for Knox Medical.

The first licensed dispensary for medical marijuana in Orlando plans to open to the public on Friday. The Knox Medical dispensary, 1901 North Orange Avenue in Ivanhoe Village, is more like a limited pharmacy available only to people with doctor's prescriptions for low-THC cannabis. Knox Medical patients registered with the state's Compassionate Use Registry will be clients of the new store.
