Bill Cassidy and Susan Collins said the CBO report showed the House Obamacare replacement was not adequate. It's easier to be against than for something on health care. Senate GOP leaders have indicated to reporters that a vote will occur in coming months, even if that plan gets rejected by the Senate.

Although cannabis had been used for many centuries for treatment of seizure disorders, medical use became prohibited in the 20th century. This has prompted the editors of Epilepsy & Behavior to produce a special issue that presents an in-depth assessment of the potential of cannabinoids for the effective treatment of epilepsy. Of the 389 children with epilepsy included in the survey, 13% had a reported history of cannabis product use for epilepsy. They also relate four case studies of pediatric epilepsy patients that illustrate the complexities of treatment due to variability of these preparations. However, with the loosening of laws regarding medical marijuana, research and clinical use of marijuana-derived substances are increasing.

New York must further expand its medical marijuana program

As an advocate for patients like me who live with chronic pain, I was delighted when New York launched its medical marijuana program. Recently, the state has taken steps to help thousands more by expanding access and bringing more competition to its medical marijuana program. My story is not unique—thousands of New Yorkers' lives will change as access to medical marijuana increases. As with pharmaceutical drugs, medical marijuana is a complex science. For people who depend on medical marijuana to make it through every day, as I do, it is crucial that these leaders expand on their good work, even in the face of a loud few opponents.
