Chicago Tribune : reported that Warren Township District 121 to cover more of some health insurance costs for one year

Warren Township High School District 121 will help cover more of some teachers' health insurance premium costs next year as the district and the union look for a more long-term solution, the superintendent said. The district has seen its health insurance premiums rise about 20 percent over the last two years, which has "obviously been a stressor for the district and its individual employees," Ahlgrim said. The deal comes about two weeks after about 75 Warren Township High School teachers crowded a school board meeting in a show of strength over what union president Jason Jecmen had described as discrepancies related to dependent health insurance coverage. The agreement, which was approved by the school board Tuesday in a culmination of two months of discussion, aims to give some financial relief to employees who have dependent coverage, Superintendent John Ahlgrim said. Ahlgrim declined to facebook/" target="_blank">comment further on those allegations Friday, only saying that the district and the union agrees upon insurance rates each year and those rates are what had been implemented.

N.H. legislators push bill to let regulators react to health insurance upheaval

The insurance department said it wants to ensure carriers remain in the market and that prices stay stable. Chris Sununu said in a letter that it is not his intent to waive requirements that insurers cover pre-existing conditions. The Senate Health and Human Services Committee endorsed the amendment unanimously Tuesday, saying the state should be able to act fast should anything happen. House Bill 469 now goes to the full Senate for a vote, and it already has the backing of Sununu, a Republican. Those could include reviving a high-risk pool or seeking waivers from the federal government to get money, officials said.
