Degree's amendment would move bargaining for teacher health care to the state level. The House approved a property tax yield of $10,077, income yield of $11,851 and nonresidential tax of $1.555. Lawmakers rejected a one-time opportunity to allow the state to negotiate teacher health care benefits. The Senate voted 19 to 10 to increase school property taxes. Yesterday and again today, the Senate voted to set the property yield at $10,015, income at $11,820 and nonresidential $1.563.



Personal tragedy shaped New Jersey congressman's effort on health care

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently took out digital ads targeting 30 Republican-held seats on the health care proposal. About 40 protesters converged on MacArthur's district office in Marlton, New Jersey to protest his work on the health care bill. One sign read "Don't Take Our Health Care," and another "MacArthur's Bill Kills." Before the recent events in the health care debate, Democrats had already targeted MacArthur's district as one of their top priorities in the coming election. WASHINGTON — New Jersey Rep.
