Life News : reported that Texas Senate Passes Bill to Stop Health Insurance Programs From Funding Abortions With Your Premiums

Yesterday, the Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 20, Pro-Life health insurance Reform, on third reading on a 21-10 vote. Pro-Life Texans are hopeful that this session legislators will prioritize this important measure and ensure that Pro-Life Health Insurance Reform becomes law. This session, Pro-Life Health Insurance Reform once again seeks to protect Texans who do not want to subsidize abortions through public, private, and state insurance plans. SB 20 would ensure that ACA-subsidized plans, state employee plans, or private basic health insurance plans do not include coverage for elective abortions. Last session, Pro-Life Health Insurance Reform was stalled in the same House committee, which delayed the move to the House floor until the end of the session.

Congressman Shimkus Says Health Insurance Reform Is Not Dead

Congressman John Shimkus doesn't feel health insurance reform is dead, but any future efforts may be to a smaller scale. That Medicaid issue is big for the state of Illinois. I don't think we will see a whole Medicaid issue. Shimkus doesn't see Trump's defeat on health care preventing him from successfully moving other legislation forward. He is happy with the Presidential orders, including those that have allowed the Dakota Access Pipeline and Keystone Pipeline to move forward.
