A bad idea on health insurance quoting : The Denver Post

One proposal receiving little notice is the idea of selling health insurance policies "across state lines" as a way to save premium costs. What does this really mean, since most health insurance companies are already multistate? Currently, plans, whether employer-sponsored, purchased privately, or via the exchange, are regulated by state insurance commissions, since Congress has long resisted federal-level insurance regulation. These and other consumer protections would become nonexistent under the GOP's "free market" proposals. He calls the health insurance plan for elected officials a "selfish perk." Bogusz later vetoed an ordinance allowing elected officials to retain health insurance, but aldermen, including Chester, voted to override the mayor. Bogusz said elected officials on the plan could have kept health insurance for a year. Aldermen Patti Haugeberg, John Robinson, Dick Sayad, Jim Brookman, Mike Charewicz and City Clerk Gloria Ludwig are covered by city health insurance.
