Iowa Republicans divided as new medical marijuana legislation introduced
The pair of bills — House Study Bill 164 and Senate Study Bill 1176 — reflect the current divide among Republicans in the Iowa Legislature. But Republicans so far have not been able to advance broader medical cannabis legislation. That law was enacted in 2014 but is scheduled to sunset in July, leaving no state law in its place.
