Shawnee County sees increase in HPV vaccine rate after health department initiative stat : CJ Online

That compares to 6 percent of Douglas County teens, 24 percent of Jackson County teens, 20 percent of Wabaunsee County teens and 13 percent of Osage County teens. In Kansas, about 50 percent of girls and 36 percent of boys have received the HPV vaccine, according to recent CDC statistics. As the number of teens vaccinated against HPV in Kansas remains low, Shawnee County has taken steps to improve the vaccination rate among local adolescents. The HPV vaccine is available to women through age 26 and men through age 21. Instead, the department offered longer hours for two days last year, where they saw nearly 50 adolescents, 36 of whom received the HPV vaccine.
